The location next to the Jardin du Luxembourg and close with the wonderful Latin Quarter. Good RER connection with airport and close with several subway stations. Nice old building, beatifully decorated rooms with small balcons. Very helpful staff. Felt like home :)

The location is great and the room itself quite comfortable.
The property does not offer parking despite advertising it on their website. Parking on the streets nearby was also very hard to find. When I emailed asking to confirm it was available they referred me to a nearby garage for €30/24 hours and I was very rudely told that I should have booked 2 or 3 months in advance if I wanted parking and implied that I was quite out of line to request it. They said they would waive the cancellation fee if I wanted and sarcastically remarked that they were sure I would have no problem finding a hotel for the same price. As this was with only one day notice, I continued my reservation. However, if I had known this in advance and given their rude customer service, I obviously would have booked a more expensive property that included parking. There is also no internet and the shower is quite small. Also, the toilet is located outside the room.

Residence du Palais is a small hotel which is located on 2 of the floors of an old building in the district of Saint Germain des Prés. It's a privilege to stay in the "6ème arrondissement de Paris", specially in front of the beautiful Jardin du Luxembourg. The staff was polite and friendly, the rooms were clean and there was a cheap continental breakfast served everyday. The building has a small lift, which makes a difference when you have to come up to the 4th floor with heavy luggage. There are tiny bathrooms en suite, but the toilets are at the ends of the corridor. However, this was not a great inconvenience and I consider the cost benefit as very good.

It was close to the luxembourg gardens
The elevator didn't work all of the time -which is a bit of a bother when you have to drag luggage up several flights of stairs.

The freedon of entering and going out without being noticed or questionned as in the standard hotels. The proximity of the Jardin du Luxembourg.
The pics of their website are fake, the charming-bucolic-monumental presentation of the place and rooms are not the reality: the real building (ordinary-old-used) is door to door to a cheap café on one side and a noisy primary school on the other. The responsible (concierge) is the only available person to quickly welcome you, give you the room keys and cash (immediately) the full amount of your stay in advance, all made up in a couple of minutes. The attention you receive is very calculated, and so is the (fake) sympathy that finishes once you start to ask too much questions. All should be done asap, and a “have a nice day” is said before you realize. My twin room had different prices applied for 1 or 2 guests. I was alone and charged me double price per night! The breakfast ends at 8:45 !!!, sheets are not changed. The rooms are previous ancient sitting rooms now transformed in small pieces to become sleeping rooms: Small cheap shower box and cupboard (as wardrobe) were placed in where it used to be an ancient fireplace or so. The furniture is precarious coming from an old attic. The wc is surrealisticly small (70x70 cm) requiring true eforts even to pull the flush! No isolation: constant steps go and back from the wc makes impossible to sleep during the night, each guest mouvement is well spotted by the cracks of the floor, the slam of the doors and the conversations through the walls that you can clearly follow as if people where inside your own room! The wifi is limited 1 h/day, more will be paid. The concierge’s access is available but difficult, unpersonal, expressily made to avoid the guests’ inopportun presence. Plenty of young low budget students who rent monthly altogether a room. Avoid it!

Best? It was all quite delightful! There was a large window into an interior courtyard at the head of the bed and it was quiet, an adorable little European girl practicing her English in the breakfast room. Also there was great water pressure for a relaxing shower after long day walking everywhere in Paris! Nicolas was helpful and a real person.
This is not a hotel. If you need lots of pampering you might want to try elsewhere.

Staff was excelent. The person in the loby helped me very very much find my way to Paris, and we asked him something and he helped us with great interest and honest opinion! I would definitely go again to this hotel!

Very close to cafe, general store, and both Metro and rer rail options. Good base for exploring Latin Quarter as well as central Paris. Owner welcoming and helpful, and offered to keep luggage during last day of sight seeing, avoiding the 'left luggage' problem.
Shared toilet down corridor.

Very good location, and nice to stay somewhere with character rather than hotel you can find anywhere in the world.
